Senior Medical Writer
Editorial Team Leader
Description of role:
We are seeking a Medical Writer to join our editorial team.
The ideal candidate will have a higher degree in a biological sciences discipline and 1 to 2 years’ experience in a medical communications agency working across a range of deliverables including publications. The successful candidate will be part of a team producing a range of high-quality communication items in accordance with the needs of the client. We are looking for a driven and ambitious individual who will embrace our ethos of delivering scientific excellence through collegiate working, open communication and building trusted partnerships with our clients.
This full-time position can be based either at our office in Plumley or at our office in Manchester City Centre and offers a competitive salary and benefits package and a fun, friendly working environment.
Description of role:
We are seeking a Senior Medical Writer to join our editorial team. The position is based at our offices, in either Plumley, Cheshire, or Manchester city centre (5 minutes’ walk from Manchester Piccadilly station).
The ideal candidate will have a PhD in a biological sciences discipline and 3 to 4 years’ medical writing experience in a medical communications agency. The right candidate will relish the prospect of a high-profile, client-facing role and the opportunity to deliver a range of communication outputs as well as mentoring and reviewing work from less experienced Medical Writers.

We are seeking an ambitious Account Manager with a passion for scientific excellence to join our friendly accounts team.
As an Account Manager, you will work closely with our Editorial Leads, Medical Writers and Senior Accounts team to deliver across a wide range of projects. You will be responsible for managing relationships between Meridian and our largest global client to ensure our projects meet the needs of all key stakeholder groups. Your role will include:
- Actively participating in and contributing to management meetings that have a direct impact on the business
- Advising and assisting in the planning and initiation of projects to make sure they fit with our clients short, medium and long term objectives
- Managing project trackers to ensure delivery on schedule and within budget
- Providing financial management of assigned accounts, including invoicing and reconciliation
- Line managing junior members of the accounts team
The ideal candidate will have worked in a medical communications agency for a minimum of 3 years and will have experience across a broad range of medical communication outputs. We are looking for a driven and ambitious individual who will embrace our ethos of delivering scientific excellence through collegiate working, open communication and building trusted partnerships with our clients.
This is a key role within the team so we’re looking for an outgoing and communicative approach to project management, a willingness to engage with other colleagues and third party suppliers and an ability to think flexibly.
This full-time position is based at our office in Plumley, Cheshire.

The ideal candidate will have a PhD in a biological sciences discipline and 5 or more years’ medical writing experience in a medical communications agency. The right candidate will relish the prospect of a high-profile, client-facing role and the opportunity to lead a team of writers on their assigned account. The role requires the ability to define and deliver strategic objectives for the account as well as ensuring scientific and editorial accuracy for all deliverables. The Editorial Team Leader will also be responsible for line managing selected personnel, ensuring their well-being, motivation and personal development.
